PURE POLARIS ACCESSORIES:

BURANDT COLLECTION AND NEW LOCK & RIDE® ITEMS

Legendary backcountry freerider Chris Burandt was deeply involved in the development of several accessories that will enhance the riding experience of deep snow riders. He administered real-world testing to items in the Burandt Collection in some of the most remote areas only a rider of his skills could access aboard a Polaris 800 RMK Assault.

Among the items featured in the new Burandt Collection are Burandt’s HD PowderTrac™ Boards, which provide a high-traction platform for an aggressive rider and ensure instant snow evacuation. The Burandt Signature Windshield is a low windshield with Burandt’s signature and his backcountry logo, and his graphic wraps – the Burandt Khaos Wrap and Burandt Signature Wrap – give a sled a custom look with exciting graphics Burandt helped design. These are premium-quality wraps from ArcticFXgraphics, the leader in motorsports graphic wraps.

Backcountry riders will appreciate the Burandt Hand Saw, a compact, easy to use hand saw that will let a rider cut some brush to get out of a jam. Among the new Lock & Ride® accessories, all of which can be installed or removed quickly and easily without tools, is the Burandt Lock & Ride Tunnel Bag. This bag attaches easily without tools to the top of the tunnel and holds survival gear, food, and has a waterproof section for items such as electronics.

Among the other new Lock & Ride accessories are the Lock & Ride Handguard Mounts. They are easy to install – without tools – on the handlebars and they hold the protective, newly redesigned handguards (sold separately) that offer outstanding protection and comfort.

“Everyone wants to own a great ride, but it’s even better when it’s just the way you want it,” said Jeff Wood, President of Don Wood Polaris, Athens, Ohio.

Iconic Indian Motorcycles Acquired by Polaris Industries

Polaris brings world-class engineering, manufacturing and distribution to Indian’s rich American heritage and historic brand

ATHENS, OHIO– April 19, 2011 — Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII) today announced the acquisition of Indian Motorcycle. Provides future growth opportunities within the low-emission small vehicle market

ATHENS, OHIO–April 25, 2011 — Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE:  PII) today announced an agreement to acquire Global Electric Motorcars LLC (GEM), a wholly owned Fargo, N.D. based subsidiary of Chrysler Group LLC and manufacturer of premium electric-powered vehicles.  GEM is the recognized leader within the low-speed vehicle market, with a well-respected brand and approximately $30 million in sales during the 2010 calendar year.  Since the company was established in 1998, they have placed over 45,000 electric-powered vehicles on the road worldwide.  GEM has developed business-to-business sales expertise within the fleet and government vehicle markets, and has created a competitive advantage with core competencies in make-to-order vehicle fulfillment and mobile service support.

“GEM provides Polaris with an established position in the low-emission small vehicle market and supports Polaris’ strategy of penetrating on-road market segments poised for growth,” said Scott Wine, Polaris chief executive officer. “We are excited about the outlook for growth within this market space, and are looking forward to developing even stronger growth prospects for the GEM business.”

Victory Motorcycles Recognizes Military with “Warrior Made” Give Away of Special 2011 Vegas 8-Ball

April 22nd, 2011

Military Give Away: Victory Vegas 8 Ball "Warrior Made"

ATHENS, OHIO (APRIL 22, 2011) – As part of its ongoing recognition and support of United States military personnel, Victory is sponsoring the MilitaryTimes.com “Warrior Made” series that recognizes the 12 greatest innovations in military history, and is giving away a special 2011 Vegas 8-Ball.

The fuel tank of the “Warrior Made” Vegas 8-Ball was signed by the entire production team that built the bike at Victory’s Spirit Lake, Iowa, final assembly plant. Several of those team members are military veterans themselves.

“Knowing the bike they were building would be awarded to the winner of the ‘Warrior Made’ give-away, the Victory team built the bike with a special sense of gratitude for our nation’s military personnel,” said Victory General Manager Steve Menneto. “We have the greatest respect for our military’s service and sacrifice, and are honored to support them through this and other Victory promotions.”

Registration for the “Warrior Made” bike give-away is available at MilitaryTimes.com, which also has complete contest details. The entry deadline is June 4, 2011. The website currently features the Victory-sponsored “Warrior Made” series, which recognizes “12 icons of American fighting forces that have come to symbolize true-grit ingenuity and the can-do spirit.” These innovations include the Jeep, the continuous track, camouflage, Kevlar, the Global Positioning System (GPS) and more.

Victory Military Support

Sponsorship of the “Warrior Made” series and the special Vegas 8-Ball give-away are the latest examples of Victory’s continuing support for active U.S. enlisted personnel. Victory has also teamed with Operation Gratitude to collect personal items for troops deployed worldwide, made a special contribution to Fort Hood in Texas in the aftermath of the 2009 incident, and featured military personnel and their motorcycles in Victory Rider magazine and on the Victory website.

Victory is currently offering the “Victory Full Throttle Salute,” which provides enlisted personnel with $1,000 cash back on the purchase of any new Victory motorcycle. This offer has been extended through June 30, 2011. Details and a downloadable coupon are available at www.victorymotorcycles.com.

The Vegas 8-Ball

The “Warrior Made” Vegas 8-Ball is a custom cruiser that’s long on style, value and performance. The Vegas 8-Ball is sleek and stylish, with a raised spine on the bodywork running the length of the bike, a split-tail fuel tank, and a tall front wheel. It is powered by the Victory Freedom 106/6 engine with a displacement of 106 cubic inches and a 6-speed transmission. The black bodywork and numerous blacked-out components give the Vegas 8-Ball a distinctive look, and make it an ideal candidate for customizing.

Like every Victory motorcycle built since the first bike rolled off the assembly line on July 4, 1998, final assembly of the “Warrior Made” Vegas 8-Ball took place at the Victory plant in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

“Our men and women in the military do a lot for us. It’s only right that we return the favor,” said Jeff Wood, President of Don Wood Victory, Athens, Ohio. “The “Warrior Made” Vegas 8-Ball give away is a great tribute to those who serve.”

No joke. It’s a Full-Size Vespa (crafted from wood) THAT RUNS!!!

April 16th, 2011

Got a few thousand spare hours? Craft your own WOOD VESPA!

Wood Vespa Redefines "UNIQUE" (and it runs, too!)

ATHENS, OHIO – 4-16-11 – OK, you’re used to adding the special touches to make your ride unique. But you’ve never seen a Vespa scooter like this. It’s full-size, runs great and packs jaw-dropping craftsmanship, just like Vespas have for decades. Except this one is carefully, methodically, meticulously, perhaps compulsively, carved from wood.

The stunning wood Vespa is the result of hundreds of hours of work and more artistic talent than should be legal. Check out the pictures above, then go to the Carlos Alberto’s website for more details. If you have to ask why…you don’t understand artists.Maybe it’s something special about carpenters from Portugal!

“We’re a Vespa dealer, but I’ve never seen anything to match this,” said Jeff Wood, President of Athens Scooter Company, Athens, Ohio. “I would love to have it in our showroom so our clients can enjoy it.”

Polaris Industries Unveils Custom Victory Motorcycle Lapel Pins During Daytona Beach Bike Week

March 14th, 2011

Don Wood Victory, Athens,Ohio, Adds Victory Dealership

The 2011 Daytona Bike Week, turned out hundreds of thousands of visitors for its 70th annual showing.  For motorcycle enthusiasts, this means more bikes to appreciate and a larger crowd to maneuver through. However, for Polaris Industries, the maker of the Victory Motorcycle, this is a huge opportunity to promote the newest addition to its prized motorcycle series using customized biker lapel pins. Don Wood Polaris, Athens, Ohio, is expanding its lines with the addition of Don Wood Victory, including the complete line of motorcycles, parts and accessories.

Triumph Crowned With Spirit

At Spirit Lake, Iowa, in 1998, the Victory Motorcycle series began its legacy. The first model of the Victory Motorcycle won Cycle World’s Cruiser of the Year award in 1999.  Since then the bike manufacturer has continued to produce award winning, stylish and highly demanded motorcycles. The industries’ latest creation, the Victory High-Ball,  is due to be available in April 201. The company describes  it not only as being stripped down for the classic riding spirit but also “a bold throwback”.  The lapel pins the bike industry leader contracted All About Pins to create celebrate the new bike as well as its other popular models.

Custom Logos, Artwork and Text

This oval shaped lapel pin design is just as unique as the Victory Motorcycle itself.  As a matter of fact, the inspiration behind the design details stem from the official Victory logo which can be seen inset at the highest point on the pin. Including the company’s official logo in the design is the key to ensuring that it possesses the maximum amount of marketing potential. Aside from the easily recognized Polaris trademark, the bold statement of “Victory” reaffirms the brand while the words “Bike Week 2011, Daytona Beach” announces where the motorcycle maker will be spending its first week of March.

“We’re proud to add Don Wood Victory to our dealership group, including a full line of accessories and Victory parts,” said Jeff Wood, President of Don Wood Victory, Athens, Ohio. “It’s a great name in motorcycles with a full lineup of bikes for every kind of rider.”

Ranger 800 HD utility vehicles are ideal for tough jobs

Polaris Ranger 800 HD utility vehicles are ideal for tough jobs

Ranger 800 HD utility vehicles from Don Wood Polaris, Athens, Ohio, feature an 800cc, twin EFI engine that provides 15% more power and a top speed of 85.3 km/h, helping to tackle tough and heavy jobs.

The Ranger 800 HD utility vehicles have a 907kg towing capacity and large 680kg payload capacity. The rear dump box has a capacity of 453.6 kg and also features a self-cleaning hinge and easy, one-hand tailgate latch.

These capacities combined with the Polaris Accessory Lift and Carry System make the Ranger 800 HD work even harder and reduce work time. The hydraulic Lift and Carry system enables moving, plowing, or grappling up to 227 kg loads.

The Polaris long-travel Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) features Nivomat shocks to offer exclusive self-leveling suspension. When the Ranger HD starts moving, the shocks start working. The shocks automatically lift the 454 kg capacity box to near its unloaded height, maximising suspension travel to 24.4 cm in the front and 22.9 cm in the rear, and ground clearance to 30.5 cm. This keeps the ride smooth during all kinds of heavy-duty applications.

The Ranger HD utility vehicle also features Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS), which facilitates easy steering at slow speeds and adjusts as the speed increases, providing control and comfort. For an even better ride, the Polaris On Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system automatically engages when more forward traction is needed. It reverts to 2WD automatically when AWD is no longer needed.

The Ranger 800 HD utility vehicle has three seats that include seatbelts and comfort isn’t compromised with the angled seat backs for car-like comfort and larger seating with more leg space. The new tilt steering and redesigned steering wheel caters for people of any height and gives up to 50% easier steering effort. The Ranger 800 HD has near zero bump steer so the driver can stay focused on the track ahead, and a re-orientated accelerator and brake pedal to reduce fatigue.

Other Polaris features that come standard are certified Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) and new heavy-duty front-end protection. The headlights are inset for protection against rock chips and branches, and there is also protection for critical components such as the radiator, coolers and front differential. Dedicated vehicle tie down points and an inset tow hook cage give additional front differential protection.

Working features include:

  • 800cc Twin EFI engine with 15% more horsepower
  • ROPS Certified cab
  • Power steering with variable assist
  • Heavy duty front protection
  • 46% more dash storage than competition
